How can I put in a air conditioner in a 4 foot high by 2 foot window?

In my house we do not have central air, and the only widows I have are a large double set of sliding windows. The problem is that the windows are so tall that if I put a A/C in it, it would leave like 3 feet open to outside. Is there any cheap type of portable A/C that I should use? Or what? Keep in mind that I am only looking to cool one room.

Looking For A Good Air Purifier?

i want to spend no more then 400 on the unit its self i want one that is inexpensive to maintain ive seen one thats you have to put like 150 bucks into every 6 months for filters and hepa replacements i understand filters need to eb changes but i would prefer one that is less often or more inexpensive.

this is simpler than you think .
if you invest in some box fans .
smaller the better.
and some of the washable filters for a AC unit .
attach the filters to the back of the fan .
this will rid you of the largest particles and allow your other filters to extract the smaller ones

I bought an air purifier at a garage sale, it looked pretty new and in good shape so I bought it and bought a filter for it and used it for 3 days.

You don't know where it was used before, so it may will be putting out fumes of some sort that are making you sick. I would junk it and get a new one. You can get them cheap at any home store or discount store.

How do i reset the indicator light on my HAP422B Holmes air purifier?! ?

I have searched the web to no avail. I even downloaded the manual on Holmes website but all it says is that some purifiers with an indicator light are reset by inserting a pin into the reset button. WHERE is the reset button?!?! I have searched by the button, around the button, behind the filters... going a little crazy now!

Units which have an indicator light (HAP243/HAP422) must be reset
once the HEPA filter has been replaced. Reset indicator by inserting a
small object (such as a pin or paperclip) into the hole marked RESET.

There should be a small hole marked Reset around the indicator, see figure 2 at the attached manual.
