How much does the oreck excel professional air purifier cost?

They cost a couple hundred bucks. I have one and I rarely use it. It didn't seem to be of any benefit as far as my allergies are concerned.

Then I got a new filter on my furnace that is the next best one to an electronic air cleaner (it cost a couple of hundred bucks too) and it seems to do a better job at cleaning the air.

I need info on the best air filters!?

I was wondering how a HEPA air filter works (not down at the molecular level but if you're supposed to plug it in somewhere and let it work it's magic). Also if you need to buy replacement filters or if you just need to clean it every couple of days and etc.

I have been using a Hepa air purifier in my home for going on 3 years now. It has worked great with little maintenance. It has a built in filter monitor that goes from green to red. It has a prefilter element that needs to be rinsed out in cold water every couple of months. The main filter lasts at least a year at a time , and only needs to be replaced when the monitor reaches red, indicating the need for a new one. It's been worth the money, and little time needed for its' benefits. Find a place, plug it in, let it work.
Sorry I do not know about the Oreck. I hope this helps.
NOTE: ginny is wrong, they are stand alone units, but some are integrated into other systems such as heating units. You can find them at all major retailers , RE: Walmart, Sears, Target, etc...

As our planet warms, summertime temperatures and humidity are constantly reaching all time highs. Although that may be good news for your tan, it can be hazardous to the health of cats, dogs and other household pets. Because pets cannot sweat to cool themselves down, panting helps them to maintain their normal body temperature. Pets need a cool place to stay when the summer temperatures soar, along with access to cool, clean water. But without those two vital necessities, no amount of panting will prevent any pet from overheating. When a dog or cat loses the ability to regulate their body temperature, they could suffer from a heat stroke, brain damage and possibly death.

If your pet experiences heat stroke, immediately remove them from the heat and increase ventilation and air flow. Frequently apply cool water compresses to the pet. Do not use ice because it will cause the blood vessels to naturally constrict, decreasing the pet's ability to cool down. Give water to the pet, but do not force it to drink. To prevent this from happening to your pet, follow these tips for protection from the heat.

Vehicles

If you are going to run errands during the heat of the summer day, leave your pet at home. Even if you park your vehicle in the shade with the windows down, temperatures inside your car can still reach up to 120 degrees.

Beach or Pool

If you take a pet on a long road trip, keep it hydrated and make frequent stops for walking and using the bathroom.

Exercise

During summer exercise, the body temperature rises faster than heat is dissipated. Be sure to cut back on exercise during the heat of the day and limit exercise to the early morning or late evening.

Air purifier ionizer on or off?

I just bought a small air purifier (for a small bedroom). I've been having shortness of breath (difficult to take deep breaths). I do have an apt to see a doctor but I wanted to get an answer about my purifier.

I like you also had shortness of breath and got a couple of air purifiers . Mine have that same switch if you flip it on more dirt falls into the filter.
But i find that it makes it harder for me to breath so what i do is leave it on while I go out or to work . When I get home I turn it off also when I sleep I just let the filter run with out the ionizer. Hope this helps you .

Is there anyway I can have a cat? My dad has allergies?

I found a stray kitten, but my dad said I can't keep her because he's allergic. but I can't get rid of her, I love her already. anyway, is there anyway I can keep her without aggrevating his allergies? do those pet dander eliminating sprays (or whatever) actually work? what about an air filter or purifier, would that work? the kitten only stays in the basement (because that's my room), and my dad only comes down here like once every two weeks, so it isn't fair that I should have to get rid of her.

He could take allergy medicine if you are really responsible and can take care of the cat. Those other products really wouldn't keep things 100% and if your dad has a severe allergy problem when it comes to cats he would still suffer. I imagine that your dad has other reasons besides that he has allergies to the cat for not letting you keep the cat though.
