Air condition of chevrolet astro van problem !?

Well i have a tiny leak in the AC system and i did not find freon 12 so the dealer changed to freon134 without any replacements and he told me that he did the same thing before without any problems ,the AC gave a cool air FOR 2 months before it stoped again , now i find in the market freon134 with seal and i found also F12 and there is a gas leak detector in the market and AC stop leak that some freinds advice me to use it but the other asked me to leave it cause it will create other problems but both of them told me it is better to add a small quantity of compressor oil which i think it is better to do it by myself cause i will save each time more than $20 so i will buy gauges ,14oz of gaz and vacuum tool and compressor oil and will try to refill again but which gaz should i use?

Just use the 134 freon w/ stop leak. if it's a small leak it will work. and it does not cause any problems.

How high should the air conditioner register at depending on the weather outside?

It's about 103 degrees outside, the air conditioner is registering at 89 degrees. Is that normal? It may be a dumb question but it just seems like it should be cooler in here no matter what. I know it's working hard but 89 degrees. It's so hot in here.

best you can get is 20 degrees across your coil. that s air coming in from your return boot and air coming from about a foot above your A coil.

if its that hot outside, try misting your outside unit and see if that helps. doesnt have to be a soaking mist, but just to cool it a bit.

my mother in law smokes, how can i keep the cigarette smoke out of my room? Does an air purifier work?

we both live in an apartment. my bf and our 15 mo old baby live in a room and his mom in another. she smokes alot in her room out the window with a fan, but it still lingers. can i buy an air purifier or sumtin? we've asked her to consider quiting but it seems like an impossible task.

You can buy an air purifier such as a PANDA machine. My parents have two around their house to help with the mildew smell in the basement and I've used it to get the new carpet smell out of my apartment before. It really helps. Or you could get one of those ionic air purifiers, supposedly they really work.

What line of action should we take since our new home air conditioner is failing?

Moved into our new construction home Jan '07. This was a custom build. End of Jan our Trane AC/Heat Pump secondary drain pan filled up and kicked off the kill switch. This has continued to happen EVERY month. AC subcontractor has been trying to make the thing right. Basically going thru their troubleshooting every 30 days. Still crapping out. Tonight was the 9th time. Twice in 2 days. Compressor went out yesterday and they got it going again. Tonight it started blowing hot. They arrived; magically starting blowing cold after doing nothing to the unit. My wife finally lost it, called AC owner and demanded to see a new AC in our home. We also contacted the builder and demanded that he make something happen. AC contractor 1st suggested going thru Trane support then said he'd call the local Trane rep to replace (who's been well aware of this and has been suggesting troubleshooting tips to AC guy thru this process). This thing has drug out long enough. What do we do? Legal? Wait out?

The builder is responsible, the contractor is also responsible. They will keep screwing around until they get tired of these "call backs" this is "pick-up" work for the contractor, they have men that just work on "pick-ups" I know, I was one, for problems in homes after the people move in, until the one year warranty wears out, then your screwed.

Speak with who's ever in charge and see what they're willing to do, your wife, "loosing it" isn't to wrong, they can see the nerves are getting frazzled.
There are glitches in units like everything else, this apparently is a Saturday night special. Tell them you want it out.

If they turn their back on you then seek the advice of an attorney that's willing to work right now, not next winter. Sometimes a letter or phone call from him for $200.00 is worth it.

How much is it to get air conditioning for my 2008 Hyundai Elantra?

My parents decided to buy my 2008 Hyundai Elantra basic, which is cool, becuase they got me a car. But it is getting really hot outside, and my car is black- but i have no AC! Does anyone kno where I can kind an air conditioner kit for my car, and how much it would cost?

only kit for a car that new would be dealer installed a/c kit and they are not cheap.

only other option would be to find a wrecked one in the same year range and rip everything out of it.

you'd need all kinds, condensor, evaporator w/underdash boxes, all a/c lines, misc. bolts, brackets, possibly wiring harnesses if the car isnt pre-wired either, a/c compressor w/engine bracket, belt, possibly crank pulley, compressor oil, and freon. I think I may have left something out but you get the idea.

its a huge pain in the butt and even if you got all the parts together on the cheap...and I mean EVERYTHING...it sounds like you have no clue how to install it yourself and a shop would charge you an arm and a leg to do it since they'd have to pull out the entire dash to hang the underdash components.

How do you install an air conditioner in a window that cranks out .?

You can remove both the window and the screen and then mount the air conditioner. You'll have to build a support around the air conditioner so that you can mount and secure it. I did this to the a/c in my garage and it worked perfect. It wasn't near the job I thought it would be.

I am wondering what is the best way to get cleaner indoor air quality at home? We already have the normal filter that every house has for the air conditioner and heater, but I'm thinking I should have something more and wondering if I should buy an air purifier filter? I see some air filters are HEPA and some are not. Is there a difference? Is one better than the other? I read somewhere that someone bought a home air filter and the room started having a weird smell, is that normal?

how do you change the air filter for a scion xb?

ok i cant find a picture of the engine bay of an unmodified scion xb. first of all you need to locate the filter. now it will either be an open filter or an boxed filter (if it is a boxed filter than look for a plasticy box with like 2 tubes coming of it,one at the front wich leads to the grille(front of the car for air supply) and the other one leading in to the engine. if it is an open one but you do not know wat an air filter looks like just search 'air filters' on google image search to get an idea. ok so once you have located the filter,just loosen the clip that is around the filter and the pipe it is connected,and simply re-attach the new one easy as that! if it is an enclosed filter,just find the screws that hold the cover in place,remove them and take off the cover to reveale the filter and then just proceed with the same procedure
