Air condition of chevrolet astro van problem !?

Well i have a tiny leak in the AC system and i did not find freon 12 so the dealer changed to freon134 without any replacements and he told me that he did the same thing before without any problems ,the AC gave a cool air FOR 2 months before it stoped again , now i find in the market freon134 with seal and i found also F12 and there is a gas leak detector in the market and AC stop leak that some freinds advice me to use it but the other asked me to leave it cause it will create other problems but both of them told me it is better to add a small quantity of compressor oil which i think it is better to do it by myself cause i will save each time more than $20 so i will buy gauges ,14oz of gaz and vacuum tool and compressor oil and will try to refill again but which gaz should i use?

Just use the 134 freon w/ stop leak. if it's a small leak it will work. and it does not cause any problems.

how do you clean a foam air filter on a lawnmower?

Don't call me gave one of the best answers..... I work on these all the time... wash it out with dawn dishliquid and warm water. Wrench it out good and let dry for a day or two, then oil it, make sure it gets throughout the filter, then squeeze it out good, reinstall it... start the engine, ( it will smoke some, depending on how well you got the oil out)... if your in a hurry, pour gas through it, wrench it out, reoil like above and install.... DO replace it once a year, no more then 2 years... clean it often in dusty conditions... Though I would like to say, soap and water is cheaper then wasting that gas now...., both do well though.. Just be sure to oil it!!, and make sure the air filter assembly is on good and tight.. now as a side note.. foam prefilters in engines that use paper airfilters are NOT to be oiled..... this will get on the paper and clog it. BTW, when washing these filters out with soap and water, its imperative that the filter is wrenched out and left to dry..... I've seem a few that would wash em out and put them right back in!! They had they're mower in the shop once a year for starting issues! or either bought a new one till I told em exactly how to...

its about to reach 70k miles...is it better to go to a toyota dealership service center for them to do a 70k maintenance and services or go to a place such as goodyear or sears service center for them to do the maintenance and services...i really want to get my moneys worth on a 70k corolla and the fact that i want it to pass the 100k mark...if i do go to a service center such as goodyear or sears will they use a different motor oil instead of what the dealership uses such as their genuine motor oil or air filter etc...any good advice

most good mechanics use the same parts and the same oil.
don't pay extra because the dealership claims they use "special" anything.
a good synthetic blend oil is fine, and change it regularly is more important that the type of oil.
any decent car can go almost 150-200 thousand miles with only a few breakdowns here and there if they change all the fluids and belts, etc, on the scheduled time for that car.
I have bought and sold and fixed and rebuilt tons of all kinds of vehicles. watch out for slick salesmen mechanics like that dealership with "special" stuff.

A report from BBC news warns us against the dangers of fake car parts. Reportedly, the British Institute of Trading Standards (ITS) declared that the counterfeit car parts industry in the UK is now worth as much as three billion pounds and has extended even to the United States and other countries. It is expected to grow even more and at a faster rate worldwide especially with the current growth of the car industry. In India, only eight in every one thousand people are car owners but two million cars are projected to sell in 2010. This is expected to further fuel the fake car parts industry.

Among the commonly faked car parts are interior accessories, wipers, spark plugs, air filters, steering linkages, brake shoes and brake pads. There was even an account of a brake shoe created only from compressed grass and a bogus wheel that caused an accident. Substandard metals used in parts are vulnerable to shearing. Authorities are concerned over the safety issue.

Investigations have shown that phony car parts are usually manufactured in the former USSR, Poland and other countries in the eastern bloc, as well as the Far East. They are then shipped internationally. The British ITS is planning to partner with original parts manufacturers to crack down on these counterfeit rings with industrial spies.

The major reason why many consumers are lured into buying fake car parts is price. They are sold at prices that are forty to seventy percent lower than the market rate of original parts and are often available from roadside garages. Even the better auto shops may be fooled into buying fake car parts to resell, though, since these parts are often packaged as original equipment.

To sniff out fakes, look out for low quality printing in the packaging and misspelled words. Also be wary of discount sales. Sometimes these are mere cover-ups for selling counterfeit car parts.

Contact your car manufacturer and ask for guidelines in checking for the proper components and other authentication procedures for genuine car parts and accessories.

It would be best to get your car parts only from an authorized dealer of original car parts manufacturers. The parts may be more expensive but they have full warranties, you are assured of quality and the dealer will be able to give you proper tips on use and maintenance.  

When your vehicle needs auto repair or truck repair, whether for engine repair, truck and car transmission system repair or replacement, make sure you bring it to an automotive shop that is an authorized dealer of reputable car parts such as AC Delco. That way, you’re sure that any car parts put in your car are genuine.

If you intend to buy a second hand vehicle, make sure you bring it to a reputable automotive shop, too, for auto inspection. It would be best if the automotive shop is also an authorized dealer of genuine car parts so that you know that they have integrity. Ask the mechanic to check all car parts for authenticity. If you decide to buy the vehicle, always take it to the same shop for maintenance and repair. Find yourself such an automotive shop in Tampa and you’ll be safe from fake car parts. Whenever you take your car in, even just for simple auto oil change, you’ll feel confident.

Remember, it’s not worth it to scrimp on your car parts. In exchange for a few dollars in savings, this puts you, your family and other people on the road at great risk. Not only will you end up losing even more money, you may end up losing what is most valuable – your own life, the life of the people you love, and the life of other innocent people.

What Causes Asthma?

Asthma is an allergic reaction that can be brought on by a variety of triggers including certain foods, medicines, organisms, dander, mold and airborne pollution. An asthmatic attack can be very frightening for both the asthmatic and their friends and family. While an air purifier alone is not sufficient to remove all allergans and asthmatic triggers from a home, they can be an effective component in your arsenal.

Including Air Purifiers in your Arsenal to help Combat Asthma Attacks

A quality air purifier alone cannot trap all household allergans that may contribute to asthmatic attacks. The reason for this is that not all allergans are or remain airborne. For example, many people with allergies are allergic to dust mite droppings (feces) which fall out of the air and into carpeting, upholstery and linens rather quickly due to their relatively large size. In addition, allergy attacks can be brought on by the presence of certain organisms which are immune to air purification, such as cockroaches.

In a September, 2004 study co-funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), and published in the New England Journal of Medicine it was found that a HEPA air filter, when used in conjunction with dust mite proof mattress and pillow covers, cockroach extermination and a HEPA vacuum, dramatically reduced asthma symptoms.

Though no air cleaning system can remove all allergans from a home, studies have shown they can significantly reduce the levels of airborn allergans and irritants, in some cases, by up to 90%. The HEPA filter has long been used in laboratory experiments, and has been proven to reduce the level of particles in the air. Many air filtration systems rely solely on HEPA technology, or, include a HEPA filter as part of a multi-filtration system.

Multi Filter Air Cleaning Systems

There are purifiers available today that combine more than one type of air filtration technology. The HEPA filter is a widely known, effective and popular air filter. Newer technologies include ionization and UV filters, which, when combined with a HEPA, can trap or kill allergans and particles that are much smaller in size than was previously possible. There are some UV filters that can effectively treat airborne pollutants that are down to 0.001 microns in size. The HEPA air filter traps particles as tiny as 0.3 microns. Ionization technology for air filtration works by negatively producing negatively charged ions which attach themselves to contaminants. These contaminants then drop from the air, resulting in cleaner air to breathe. The HEPA operates by physically trapping particles that go through the filter. While the UV method works by killing or destroying germs.

While no air filtration system alone can remove all potential allergans from the air, they can definitely help reduce them. Subsequently helping to reduce the number of allergic or asthmatic attacks an individual may experience. Much of this depends on what the individual is allergic to, what filtration system they choose, and what other allergan-removal methods they employ in their home environment. A quality air purifier can be a valuable tool in fighting allergies and the effects of asthma.
