window air conditioners side panels

How do you install an Window Air Conditioner in a window that opens up and down?

I don't have the Accordion style air conditioner side panels any suggestions?

Center your A/C in the window and measure the holes on either side. Get a scrap piece of plywood, 1/2 inch or thicker, and cut to fit. you can then paint the pieces to match or what have you. as far as sealing the hole, use a clear, silicon based caulk, applying a thin pencil sized bead around the entire opening and where the plywood meets the units well. finally, go inside, turn that baby on and enjoy your nice cool air.
